Driving heads are used to reduce the chance of damage to the end of an earth rod when it is being driven into the ground. The driving head fits onto the end of the earth rod, providing a larger surface area to drive the rod into the ground, as well as ensuring there is no deformation of the rod. This is especially important if another rod it to be coupled to it.
