We recently hosted a product familiarisation training session at our Prestons branch which focused on IPD’s 11kV Moulded Insulation Resin Protected (MIRP) joints.

We recently hosted a product familiarisation training session at our Prestons branch which focused on IPD’s 11kV Moulded Insulation Resin Protected (MIRP) joints.
This joint system is extensively used on Ausgrid’s network for branch joints, tee joints and stub tee joints of both XLPE and paper insulated cables. IPD representatives Andrew Chan and Terry Harris delivered the product training in the ARS training workshop. This theory and hands-on training was very informative and well received by those who attended.
Training and product familiarisation is incredibly important, something that is specifically dicussed in Ausgrid’s Network Standard NS 177 ‘11KV Joints (including transition joints) and Terminations – Polymeric insulated cables’. Section 8 of this standard states:
“Installation of product on Ausgrid’s network by installers who have not been product specific trained and deemed competent is not permissible. It is a mandatory requirement that installers of products detailed in this Network Standard are trained, assessed and deemed competent in the installation of each product they will be installing. The training shall be product specific and be conducted by the product manufacturer, authorised product agent or a registered training organisation.”
By working with our supply partner IPD, All Round Supplies is able to facilitate product familiarisation training for 11kV Moulded Insulation Resin Protected (MIRP) joints. More training sessions are scheduled but are filling fast.
